Insta Thot: Berry Lips and Glitter Eyes

If you have been on any social media platform lately you have seen all the posts about fall and all the things that come with it. Pumpkin spice lattes, scarves, leaves, needed a sweater in the morning and then being drenched in sweat by the afternoon. As soon as September my feed became flooded with Instagram thotties sporting warm smokey eyes and vampy berry colored lips, Starbucks cups in hand and and a slough of narcissistic hashtags. I, clearly never one to jump on a bandwagon grabbed the closest Insta thot I could find (in this case my sister) and gave her the exact same look.

I used warm browns and a burgundy color all over the crease and inner and outer corner to kind of create a halo effect and then I used an intense copper/gold glitter shadow right in the middle of the lid to make it pop. Also can we talk about how LIT the highlight is on the skin, Lupe hardly ever does glowy skin, typically opting for a matte finish but she loved the end result on the complexion! The deep berry colored lip ties the whole look together with the bit of red that is in the eye look and I think really compliments her. Now I will be honest right from the get go there are two products that are not drug store in this look and I am not going to pretend they are even remotely affordable. However I have not been able to find a dupe for either one and I notice a huge difference in the way foundation goes on the skin when I do not use them. I will point them out once we get to the skin portion of the product list and if you want to splurge some cosmetics I would highly recommend these two! Anyway enough rambling here are the products I used!

Eyes:
Milani Eye Shadow Primer $6.99- This is my trusty primer I use this every time I do makeup and it has never failed me! I used this all over the lid from lashline to brow bone to give the eyeshadow a base to stick to and prolong its wear
Makeup Revolution Professional Eyeshadow Palette in color New Trials Vs Neutrals $10- I stumbled across this brand in Ulta and am kinda obsessed this neutral eyeshadow palette is super pigmented and was only $10! I used the first eye shadow in the second row, a light beige color from lash line to brow bone to blank out the lid, highlight the brow bone.and help the other shadows blend better. Then I went into the 5th shadow on the 1st row, this warm brown color went into the crease with a fluffy domed eyeshadow brush and used windshield wiper motions until it was well blended. The 8th shadow in the first row I used to deepen the outer and inner corner of the eyes and help create the halo effect and leaving a blank space in the middle of the lid, this dark brown shadow was also used to smoke out the lower lash line. I did go back into the warm brown as well as 7th shadow on the first row, a burgundy color and went over that dark brown to warm it up and make it look less harsh. I took my time blending all these colors together until I was satisfied with how they looked.
Colour Pop Super Shock Shadow in Blaze- I used this glittery gold shadow in the empty space i had left on the middle of the lid.
Colour Pop Creme Gel Liner in No Shame- I only used this in the lower water line and brought it slightly on the loser lid to help smoke out the lower lash line
Lips:
Paladio Lip Pencil in Raisin-This was used to slightly over draw the lip as well as fill in the lip to give a base for the liquid lipstick
Makeup Revolution Salvation Velvet Lacquer in Rebel-Used to fill the entire lip
Face:
These two products are not drugstore
Guerlain L'or Primer-Used as a primer to help smooth skin texture
Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting-Spread evenly across face to give skin a glow
Fit Me Matte and Poreless Foundation-Using a damp triangle sponge I stippled this all over the face evenly
LA girl Pro Conceal in Porcelain-I placed this under the eyes as well as some on the forehead and down the bridge of the nose to highlight. I blended it in with the same sponge i used for foundation. It has a slight peachy tint which made it great for covering up under eye circles.
ELF Contour Palette- The cool toned brown shade I swept under the cheekbones with an angled blush brush to define cheekbones and the warmer shade I used to bronze up the skin.
Milani Baked Blush in Fantastico Mauve- Swept on to the cheeks with a fluffy round brush and brought back following the contour to give a sculpted look. Also I'm a POS and realized this was discontued so I linked a very similar one by the same brand
Colour Pop Highlighter in Lunch Money- I used a fan brush to place this on the tops of the cheekbones as well as in Lupe's inner corner in her eyes to really bring light to that area
Makeup Revolution Vivid Baked Highlighter in Golden Lights- This is one of the most intense highlighters I own and I am obsessed. I used the same fan brush to sweep this over the Colour Pop highlight and really intensify it. I also used a small eyeshadow brush to place it in the inner corner of the eye and it really gave that area some shine.
Nyx Brow Mascara in Black-Brushed through brows to help define them
Maybelline Dream Powder in Buff Beige- I used a big flat top brush to brush this all over the skin after I had already done all the contouring and blush to help blend everything in, set the under eye concealer and give the skin and airbrushed look
Pixi Glow Mist-I sprayed this all over the face after I was done with all the makeup and it gave the skin an over all glow and got rid of the powdery look from the foundation.

And on the 8th day he created highlighter...

We all have our vices, some of us can't resist sweets, some of us like the wine ( ok I like this one too), and some of us buy EVERY SINGLE HIGHLIGHTER IN SIGHT. It's become a problem, I don't know why but if I see a highlighter or illuminator I will compulsively buy it. I don't discriminate either, liquid, powder, cream, high-end, drugstore, I NEED THEM ALL. If you have been living under a rock and don't know what glorious  product I am talking about, highlighter is a shimmering product to bring attention to certain parts of the face. Its usually applied to the cheekbones, cupids bow, on the brow bone and the bridge of the nose. Word of warning if you plan to apply it to all those parts of the face I would use it sparingly because it can easily look like you just have an oily face, and it can bring out texture on the skin that you may be trying to hide. A light dusting on the tops of the cheekbones looks great and gives your face a glow. I figuired I would put my addiction to good use and feature all of the highlighters I have, which are my favorites, and which are dupes for each other!
I divided the highlighters into two categories, the first are powder highlithers which come in a compact and are very similar in texture to a blush. These can be applied with a fan brush or a blush brush and they can also be build up in intensity by spraying your brush with a setting spray to give them a wet/dewy look.

From Top to Bottom: Sonia Kashuk Loose Illuminator in Exotic Crystal, Mac Blush in Trace Gold, Kevyn Aucoin in Candle Light, Milani Baked Bronzer in 04 Glow.

From Left to Right: Kevyn Aucoin Candle Light, Mac Trace Gold, Milani Glow, Sonia Kashuk Exotic Crystal
The first swatch all the way on the left side of my arm (excuse my pale slightly hairy arms) is the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight. This is one of my all time favorite highlighters, it has proven to be a really great go to highlight that looks great on most light to medium skin tones. It is made in a deeper shade too if you are a deeper skin tone which is great! It has a really great smooth texture and blends into the skin well. It also has more of a glow rather than a straight up shimmer or glitter so if applied lightly can look very natural. It does does come in at a $44 cost, its the most expensive highlighter I have ever bought but I definitely think its worth it I haven't been able to find something that is similar in both color and texture. Don't worry though that is the highest one in price and it only goes down from here! Next to that one is Mac's blush in Trace Gold, this one is $22 which still isn't super inexpensive but its half of the last one. To be honest I don't use this that often, don't get me wrong its BEAUTIFUL, and the texture is great super smooth and blends great. The color is just a bit too dark for my skin tone so I don't get a chance to use it too much. Its a really great gold/ copper color with gold shimmer in it that would look amazing on medium to deep skin tones. It can be really difficult to find a highlighter that accommodates deeper skin tones so if you have been having trouble this is the one! Third in line is Milani's Baked Bronzer in Glow this is the one that I have had the longest, I think it has been about 1 year and I still haven't ran out it lasts FOREVER. This one is technically a bronzer but it has gold shimmer running through it so it can be a great highlighter for darker skin tones. I like to use this to warm up the face and blend the highlight and contour into the skin to make them look seamless. It gives the skin a really great glow and gives you that JLo sun-kissed look. Its also super affordable at $9.99 and can easily be picked up at your local drugstore, I know CVS and Walgreens both carry it. The last one all the way on the right is a little gem I just picked up about a week ago. I always look through the clearance end caps at Target because I have a spending problem but you can also find some really great deals in there. Well as i was digging through all of the clearance I saw this Sonia Kashuk loose powder illuminator in Exotic Crystal, I had never tried a loose powder highlight but figured I would pick it up because it was only $6! Now I unfortunately cannot link you to where you can get this one because its not on the website anymore but if you head to your local Target you might still be able to find it! Its a really pretty rose gold color with multicolored glitter in it. This is definitely the most glittery one out of the powder ones I have and I can't even lie it can look a little unnatural if you aren't careful. The application is a little trickier too since it is a loose pigment, I usually pick it up on a damp beauty blender sponge apply it on the cheek bones and then use a big fluffy fan brush to blend it in and knock off the excess. The packaging is also a little messy as with all loose powder so be careful when opening but trust the extra care is worth it, it looks amazing on the cheeks and really makes them pop!

From Left to Right: Becca Shimmering Perfector in Opal, Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Skin Enhancer in Candlelight, Colourpop Highlight in Wisp.

From Left to Right: Becca in Opal, Kevyn Aucoin in Candlelight, Colourpop in Wisp.
These three highlighters are liquid and a cream/powder/gel/mousse hybrid that I don't really know how to describe other than AWESOME. Liquid highlighters like the first two are some of my favorite products because they are so versatile, they can be used as a primer to give your face an all over glow, mixed into your foundation to give it a dewy glow, or as a traditional highlighter on the cheekbones. The first one on the left is the Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Opal  its a really great champagne, opal pearlescent color. It is pretty pigmented but the shimmer in it is so finely milled that it looks really natural if just applied on its own. I have used it as both a primer and as just a highlighter and I think I like it more just on the cheekbones on top of foundation especially with a more oily skin tone it can make you look like an oil slick if its put under. It is $41 for a full size BUT you can buy the travel size for $19 and a little goes a long way trust me I have had this for about 6 months and I haven't even made a dent in it. The nice thing about this highlighter is that it also comes in a bunch of different colors to accommodate different skin tones, Topaz or Rose Gold would look good on deeper skin tones so go check them out! With this liquid highlighters I usually put a little on my hand and then use a damp beauty blender sponge to apply it lightly on the cheekbones and blend it in. The next highlighter in line is the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Skin Enhancer in Candlelight, now I'm not even gonna like this one is expensive as hell. It is $52 ( I know RIP wallet :( ) BUT its one of THE BEST liquid highlighters I have ever used as both a primer and on top of the cheekbones. If you have the leftover coin then its definitely worth the splurge. First its a really neutral gold/champagne color that I've found is flattering on almost every skin tone. It also has a really great texture to use as a primer, it applies initially like a liquid and is easily blended into the skin but it quickly sets to a very smooth almost powder like finish that makes your foundation blend on your skin like  a dream while giving your skin an overall lit from within glow. If I was a normal person I would just use that and be done but I like to look like a unicorn sat on my face when I go out so I use that as a primer, the Becca one on the cheek bones layered underneath one of the powder ones ( I know I have a problem). The last one all the way on the right is one that I just bought from a really cool brand called Colourpop. Almost everything on their site is $5 with exception to the highlighters, liquid lipsticks, and some gel lingers but everything is for sure under $10. The highlight I picked up was the Super Shock Cheek in Wisp. It is a gorgeous champagne gold with as you can see from the picture a lot of gold glitter. The best part of this highlight other than the $8 price tag is the texture. All of the colourpop shadows, blushes, bronzers, and highlights have this really unique cream/mousse texture that is super smooth and creamy when you touch it but once applied sets to a powder finish that DOES NOT BUDGE ALL DAY. The texture also makes them super easy to blend into the skin but after working with the product I do have some tips for application. I agree with the recommendation on the website to pick up the product on your finger tips, apply them to the desired area and then use a duo fiber brush or beauty blender sponge to blend them in seamlessly into the skin. I have fallen in love with these products and I will definitely be purchasing more once I get a chance, you should totally check them out. That is all the highlighters I have right now, although I did lose a couple or gave a lot away in my move to Chicago in an attempt to downsize my collection (even if I did just end up buying more OH WHALE). Don't Tell anyone tell you that you have too much highlighter on, if they do cut them out of your life, you don't need that type of negativity.

When people tell me I have too much highlighter on "BAI ASHIES"
Of course as with any makeup product make sure you BLEND BLEND BLEND and find a color that suits your skin tone, but once you do you will be one step closer to that Victoria Secret model glow.
I hope this post helps you find some highlighter so that you can get your glowing goddess on especially with the warm weather coming up and let me know what some of your favorite makeup products are in the comment box below! Also let me know if you like these types of posts about some of my favorite makeup products or would you rather see more of just makeup looks! Good luck in your highlighter search!

True Life: I'm Tina Belcher- My Warby Parker Experience

I have worn glasses for as long as I could remember. I am pretty close to blind without them, letters blur up, 3's turn into solid 9's. It's pretty dangerous for me not to wear them. After a couple wild nights out in the city and my accident prone nature my Ray Ban club masters had been stepped on, dropped, and super glued more times than they could handle. The last straw was when I they fell off my face as I was walking down the stairs of the redline ( not sure how they fell off I was probably dramatically flipping my hair ). I had recently gotten contact lenses and figured I would just switch over to them permanently but after wearing them for about a week I realized I hated contacts. I have astigmatism so my contact lenses have to be weighted and I can only see clearly when they are centered perfectly on my eye. In other words I COULD NEVER SEE and they really irritated my eyes. After about a month I gave in and decided to bite the bullet and buy glasses, I had my eye on a pair of Tom Ford frames that I loved but realistically could not afford even with my vision coverage it would have been like $500. Thats when I remembered that there was a Warby Parker brick and mortar store in Lincoln Park. Warby Parker is an eyewear company that is mostly based online. You order 5 pairs of frames that you think you would like, after picking the frame you like you ship them back along with your prescription and then about 10 days later your new glasses arrive lenses and all for $95 for MOST pairs of glasses (more on this later). I am so indecisive however that I was hesitant to have the frames sent to my house because I knew I was going to want to try on more than just five. I headed over to the store and after I got over how adorable the store was I started trying on glasses. Everyone inside was pretty friendly and once I had narrowed it down to about three frames I went up to one of the sales associates and asked for his opinion. He was very helpful in giving me more information on the process and offering feedback on the frames I had picked (unfortunatley I cant remember his name because I am terrible with names). Overall I'm very impressed with their customer service everyone I dealt with both in store and after via email was very helpful and new what they were talking about.  After trying them on and asking him which ones he liked the most we both decided on the frame Burke. Its a pair of chunky square frames with a keyhole bridge.

Warby Parket Burke in Tennesse Whiskey

The color is called Tennessee Whiskey, a dark tortious shell print on the top half and clearly acrylic on the bottom. In a lame attempt to flirt with the cutie sales associate I asked if I looked too much like Tina and that was exactly when I realized this was just one step in my slow transition into Tina Belcher from Bob's Burgers. The chunky glasses, awkward flirting, lack of rhythm, and terrible driving all confirm it. Wikipedia says that Tina Belcher is a "hopeless romantic with a powerful sex drive and minimal social skills" which if that doesn't sum me up I really don't know what does. If you still don't believe me please refer to this series of Tina gifts as irrefutable evidence that I am in fact her. My sad attempt at flirting did not pan out but he did say I looked kinda like Tina so it was worth it.

Me trying to flirt

Me trying to drive

Me trying to show off my athletic prowess

Me trying to play it cool near my crush

Me trying to get turnt at da club
If that doesn't convince you I don't know what will. Anyway back to my glasses, after picking the frames I put my order in right at the store it, was super easy. As the website says most glasses are about $95. HOWEVER since my vision is so bad on one of my eyes they suggested I upgrade the lenses to a thinner lens so they didn't end up super thick and made my eyes look huge. I always do this when I get my regular glasses and it was only and extra $20 which brought my total price up to $127 for both frames and lenses. That is substantially less then what I have spent on glasses before even with my vision insurance which I didn't even use for towards these. I do believe you can use your insurance to get glasses from Warby Parker but you pay for them upfront and then you have to send your receipt to your insurance provider to be reimbursed, and I just didn't feel like doing all of that. I did have to call my eye doctor and have my prescription sent over which added about two days to the process. However they do offer eye exams at their brick and mortar stores which is pretty awesome. After they got my prescription I got an email with shipping info and about 10 days later I had my glasses right at my door and they fit great! They were the exam same quality of anything I would have gotten from a traditional eye doctor and you can't beat the price. I think its a really great way to buy one or two pairs of trendy frames and not break the bank. I could definitely see myself going back in a couple months to get another pair of more circular frames I had my eye on.

Here is a picture of me in my new frames next to Tina, I think the resemblance is uncanny. I would definitely recommend Warby Parker if you are looking for some new specs regardless of price! The quality is great and you really can't beat the price! What do you think of my new glasses? Have you used Warby Parker before? and what did you think? Let me know in the comments!

Leather and....More Leather!

I'm going to warn you guys right off the bat, this is going to be a long post. I really like leather jackets, specifically moto jackets. My last post was partially on biker jeans and this one is on the leather jacket equivalent. If you haven't noticed the pattern here it's that my life is pretty boring so the way I incorporate some edge and excitement is through my wardrobe choices. Over my internship this summer we got a BLK Denim Navy leather jacket that I INSTANTLY fell in love with. I would go over to the men's designer department to try it on every single day, and by the end of the internship I had saved enough money to buy it for myself. I justified it by convincing myself that it was my reward for completing my internship and surviving a whole summer in Chicago (trust me, with me attempting to adult for the first time it was close a couple times). Since then I have been obsessed, so obsessed that in searching for jackets to feature in this blogpost I ended up finding way more pieces than I usually feature. So I am going to divide things into two sections. First will be the women's jackets and second the men's. Do keep in mind that these can be pretty unisex so if there is one you love don't get caught up in it being technically labeled a mens or women's garment just do you boo boo. The first two jackets I want to feature are both of these Saint Laurent jackets.

Saint Laurent Moto Jacket-$4990
Saint Laurent Fringe Detail Moto Jacket- $5990

The first is just a beautiful plain black moto jacket with really clean and simple zipper detailing. The second has FRINGE, I love fringe, my favorite color is fringe, and it would be such a great way to add sass to any outfit. I could never wear a fringe leather jacket because I would be constantly shimmy-ing and gyrating Tina Turner Proud Mary style all day and could never get anything done.
Actual footage of me getting all Tina Turnt Turnt
I'm assuming you have more self control and could handle it though. Unfortunately for me and my finances even if I could handle the jacket without twirling myself into a constant state of vertigo there is no way I could afford $5990 or $4900 right now.
BlackNYC Suede Moto Jacket-$198
RD Style Fringe Moto Jacket- $125

So I found these two great alternatives! For the moto jacket without the fringe I decided to go with something a little more fun. This jacket by BlackNYC has a great fit and the Burgundy color adds some interest to what would usually be a plain black jacket. The Suede also gives it a really cool luxe look, and $200 for an all suede jacket really isn't that bad. The fringe jacket is what I'm Most excited about, how awesome is this one by RD Style. It gives you a really similar look at a fraction of the price. The main difference is the color of the hardware but the jersey girl in me is kind of loving the gold hard wear with black. This one is also faux leather for all of you that don't want to wear leather and at $125 it wont break the bank.
Now on to our mens jackets! Here is where things take an unexpected twist! I actually bought one of the high end versions of the jackets I'm featuring today. Like i said I found a way to justify the purchase and I don't regret it one bit!

BLK Denim Suede Moto Jacket-$995
BLK Denim Navy Moto Jacket-$995

The one I got was the navy one on the left and I love it. The quality of the leather is great and I love all the details that went into making it including the tiny little beads that are hanging from the zippers. I wear it all the time too, to the point that one of my friends nicknamed it my "Janet Jackson jacket" which I've come to embrace.  As I was looking at the website I saw that it came in black suede so I featured it too because I just love suede as a material. As hard as it can be to care for I think it gives a great look. Now I know that almost a grand is pretty a lot for a leather jacket but I have a spending problem ok DON'T YOU JUDGE ME! So lucky for you I found these two for 1/3 of the price and they are almost identical.

Topman Moto Jacket-$210
Topman Suede Moto Jacket-$300

These are both from Topman, one of my favorite fast fashion retailers to shop at. The plain black leather is a similar shape to the BLK denim and is actually on sale right now at Nordstrom.com for $210 which is not a whole lot for a genuine leather jacket. The one I am really in love with is the suede version, it looks almost identical to the BLK denim jacket but is $300 instead of $1000. I am actually considering buying this one because its so much less but would give me pretty much the same look. I mean how cool would it look over some a white t shirt, come coated denim, and combat boots? These jackets can just as easily be dressed up to give your button ups a bit of an edge. For ladies I love the way it looks over just a plain tank dress, and it would complete your look if worn with some distressed skinny jeans, a long t shirt and some pumps. Its an easy way elevate any outfit! By all means wear it indoors too, every time I wear it to work someone will come up to me and ask "oh my gosh how are you wearing that inside aren't you hot?' and my response always is....
Actual footage of me being sassy at work
Here is a picture of me in my jacket just to give you guys an idea of one of the ways I wear it.

I went with black biker jeans, black boots, and an oversized longline t shirt (for when I ate too much during lunch). The all black really made the blue of the jacket pop and it really elevated the plain t shirt and jeans and made me feel super B.A. all day. Not gonna lie I was a little warm but as long as I didn't move to much I was fine and I looked so cool it was worth it. Now get out there and join me in my moto jacket obsession! Whether you are wearing it with light wash jeans and converse Grease style or using it to add some edge to a dressy outfit I promise you will end up looking like a Bad B!

DENIM

Ok so it's been a while since my last post, kinda graduated and became somewhat of an adult since then so yay (not really HELP I have no idea what I'm doing S.O.S.). With graduating came a new city  (Chicago) and a new job (Nordstrom) along with a dress code. I work in a contemporary mens department that carries most of the designer denim in the store, so my dress code is expected to reflect that. Now I had never been really been a fan of jeans, I have always struggled to find a pair that fit my Latina too many tacos al pastor curves right. However since working with so many jeans lately I have gotten the chance to try pretty much everything on and a couple styles have really grown on me. My two favorites are  biker and coated denim, they give any outfit an edge and are more interesting than the traditional pair of jeans. Biker jeans have details like zippered pockets on the front and stitching around the knees and coated jeans are covered in a wax coating to give them a leather look. In other words it gives you the leather pant look minus the sweaty booty. The two designer pairs I found were a pair of Balmain biker jeans and an Alexander McQueen pair of black coated jeans.

Balmain Biker Jeans-$1950

Alexander McQueen coated jeans- $645

I mean whats not to love they both have amazing detailing and the Balmain ones even incorporate both the biker jean with coated denim! The McQueen pant comes in at $645 and the Balmain at pretty much 2000 FREAKIN DOLLARS. Obviously I cant afford either one of these, and whoever tells you that you are rolling in dem stacks after graduation is a liar and also an asshole for getting your hopes up. If anything I am on a tighter budget now than I was during school because bills and stuff. Have no fear however I found two really great low cost alternatives to both of these.

Zara Biker Jean-$79
Asos Coated Super Skinny Jean-$60 $39

Can we all just give one big collective YAAAAAS for what a great deal these both are. Especially in comparison the the designer pairs. Now I know the Zara pair aren't as intricate as the Balmain pair but they give you the same look and have the biker details at a way lower price. I actually bought a pair of hudson ones at work that I love. They are super comfortable and look very similar to the Balmain ones but those are originally almost $300. The Zara ones I just came across while checking out their website and are almost the same and a fraction of the price. The coated ones are almost exactly the same as the Alexander McQueen ones though minus the zippers on the side pockets and look at the price! They are only $39 dollars on sale!!! I actually own these though and word of warning if you do not like skinny jeans you may want to pass these are TIGHT and you have to size up one from your regular size. If you do like the skinny fit though get ready to look SNATCHED because the fit is great and they have a great deal of stretch so they are super comfortable. Whether you decide to buy the designer pair (if you do let me borrow them plzzz) or the budget b ones get ready to add a tiny bit of bad ass to your outfit every day.

PS- Care tip for jeans especially the coated pair. DON'T WASH THEM or wash them as little as possible and for the love of god do not I repeat DO NOT put them in the dryer. It sounds gross i know but your jeans will thank you. Especially if you are investing in a designer pair. The wax coating will wash off if you put them in the wash and if you dry them the heat will just melt it right off and you will lose the finish. Also with the skinny fit styles and most jeans now they all have a bit of spandex or elastane in them. The synthetic blend will give them stretch so they fit comfortably and also keeps them from losing their shape too much during wear. However if these fibers are exposed to heat (aka the dryer) they start to break down and your jeans wont last as long. Fabreze and or the gentle cycle and hang drying will be your best friend. So there you go you learned something about fibers today and you have cool pants.

Lilly Collin's Orange Lip

I am a really huge fan of orange lipsticks. I think everyone looks great in a red lip, and finding the right shade is important, but there is something about an orange toned red lip that I love. Its a good twist on a the classic  and a great way to incorporate a strong lip in the spring and summer without looking out of season. One of my favorite orange lip moments is Lilly Collin's look she wore at a G-Star event. She had a softly defined eye, her signature bold brow, and the great bold orange lip. It contrasted great with the white top she was wearing and her dark brows and hair.

Homegurl looks GOOD! This look landed her on a number of magazines beauty sections, and I have been wanting to recreate this look on someone but have just been looking for the right model. As soon as I saw Katey I knew this was the look I wanted to do on her. So here is my BEAUTIFUL model Katey in my version of this look with all budget friendly products.

Here are the products I used on Katey to create this look!

EYES
Milani Eyeshadow Primer 5.99- A thin layer was spread over the lids to prime them for eyeshadow
Flower Cosmetics Color Play Cream Shadow in Wild Geranium $7.98-I patted this on the mobile lid and inner corner with my ring finger as a base for the powder eyeshadow
Milani Gel Powder Eyeshadow in Bella Chiffon $4.49- This was placed over the cream shadow to create a shimmery lid and used under the brow bone as a highlight
BH Cosmetics 26 Shadow Blush Combo Palette $10.50-With a domed shadow brush I took the medium brown shadow (6th shadow in the 2nd row) and used it to define Katey's crease, this was also blended into the outer corners of the eyes and smoked out on the lower lash line
Jordana Fabuliner Liquid Liner in Black $2.49-I applied a thin line over the top lash line to help define the eyes and help cover the seam of the false lashes
Essence I Love Crazy Volume Mascara $4.99-This was brushed lightly on to top and bottom lashes
Qosmedix Demi False Eyelashes in black $1.80-Placed on top lash line with black duo lash adhesive to create a dramatic look
Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara in Black $7.00-This was brushed on Katey's brows to darken them and shape them into a fuller shape
FACE
Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Skin Liquid Lighting in Candlelight $52.00-I used this to prime my models skin and create a glowing base for foundation. I know this isn't a drug store product but I have been obsessed with this primer and I couldn't help but use it. A great alternative would be Nyx Born to Glow Liquid Illuminator in Gleam its only $7.50 and has a similar effect on the skin
Wet and Wild Cover All Cream Foundation in Fair and Fair/Light $3.99-I mixed the two lightest shades of this foundation to perfectly match Katey's skin and I blended on her face with a damp beauty blender sponge
Maybeline Fit Me Concealer in Fair $6.99- This was placed under Katey's eyes, down the bridge of her nose, on the chin, and forehead to highlight her face and was blended in seamlessly with a beauty blender sponge
NYC Smooth Skin Looser Powder in Translucent $2.77- This was used to lightly powder the center of the face and the under eye area
Milani Bronzer XL in Fake Tan $9.99-The darker of the two bronzers was brushed in the hollows of her cheeks and on her temples with an angled blush brush to create a sculpted look
e.l.f Studio Blush Palette in Light $6.00-The coral blush (2nd blush on 2nd row) was applied lightly with a duo fiber brush to create flushed cheeks
Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in Candlelight $44.00- Placed on the tops of cheeksbones and bridge of the nose to create glow with a fan brush. Again this one is not a drug store product but any shimmering white gold shadow could be used to replace it. The e.l.f studio baked highlighter in moonlight pearls is also a great alternative
LIPS
Wet and Wild Mega Last Lip Color in Purty Persimmon $2.29-This was applied to the lips with a thin lip brush for a precise application

I loved the way the look turned out, the lip looked great with Katey's skin tone and dark hair and brows! The lip color looked a lot more orange and very similar to the one Lilly wore in person but for some reason with the lighting in the picture it looks more pink. I hope this inspires you to rock a bright orange lip this summer its a great way to incorporate a bright lip into your spring and summer makeup routine, and like always there is always a way to look like a Bad B on a Budget!

Kendall Jenner Chanel 2015 Look

I think us midwesterners can finally say that spring officially here, thank goodness. After mother nature teasing us with warm days one week and then plunging back down to the 30s the next I think she has finally given up her cruel game and let us have our spring weather. With warmer weather coming up, comes fresher more natural makeup because no one wants a caked on face that is gonna drip off during the day. I saw the Spring 2015 Chanel Runway a couple weeks ago and I loved how bright and fun to collection was. It was overloaded with flowers, from the set, to the pieces of clothing. Apparently it took the set designers 6 months to create the flowers that decorated the runway for this collection.

(sorry I couldn't help but add this GIF from my favorite movie)

What I really fell in love with was the makeup for the models, it was a fresh face of glowing foundation, a wash of grey across the lids, and a bright coral lip. I think the best part of spring is all of the bright lip colors you can start to wear once you have a bit of glow from being out in actual daylight. Here is the look my makeup today was inspired by.

The Kardashian's are all over the place right now and usually they are known for their very heavy practically drag queen application of their makeup. However, I think Kendall looks very natural here and the bright coral lip I think looks great with her dark hair and eyes. You cant tell because of the netting over her eyes but all the other models had a bit of grey/taupe eye shadow on their lids as well which I thought defined the lids in a simple way. I decided to use my sister for this look because I thought her full brows, dark hair, and eyes are similar enough to Kendall's to compliment this look. Here is how it turned out on here!

I really wanted the lips to be the star of the show here so I kept Lupe's base very minimal and natural as well as the eyes. I used a bright coral liquid lipstick from Rimmel that is pretty much an EXACT dupe for the Chanel color they used on Kendall. Here are the products I used in the order I applied them on her face.

EYES
Milani Eyeshadow Primer $5.99- A thin layer of this was smoothed over the lid with the ring finger to keep shadow in place all day.
Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in Audacious Asphalt $3.49- I used a flat shadow brush to place this on lash line and blend up towards the crease seamlessly
Bh Cosmetics 26 Shadow Blush Combo Palette $10.50- I used the shimmery taupe shade (1st shadow in the 3rd row) to place over the cream shadow at the lash line and blended it up the same way. Then I used the matte medium brown shadow ( 7th shadow in the first row) and blended it into the crease with a domed blended brush to define the crease and further blend the taupe shadow into the lid.
Essence I love Extreme Crazy Volume Mascara $4.99- After curling the lashes this was lightly applied to top lashes to define them naturally.
Qosmedix Medium Flare Individual False Lashes $1.80- I applied a couple of these lashes, about 3 on each eye, just on the outer corner of the lids. This creates a winged out look and helps to define the eye but in a subtle way.
Nyx Tinted Brow Mascara in Black $7.00- This was brushed over the brows to fill in gaps and give them the bold look form the Chanel show.
FACE
L'Oreal Paris Magic Lumi Primer $12.95- This primer was smoothed over the skin to give the skin a glowing healthy base .
Flower About Face Foundation $13.98-This light weight foundation was buffed into the skin with a domed foundation brush for a natural look.
Maybelline Fit Me Concealer in Medium $6.99- This was lightly applied just under the eyes where dark circled needed to be concealed and over any small blemishes across the face. Emphasis on lightly when go for a natural foundation look its always best to use a very light weight foundation and then use a concealer that matches your skin tone or maybe one shade lighter and spot conceal and discoloration on the face the foundation did not cover.
NYC Loose Smooth Skin Powder in Naturally Beige $2.99- This was lightly applied just down the center of the face and anywhere you are prone to oiliness, also to set any concealer that was applied. Loose powders tend to give a much more natural look and when applied in targeted areas can look natural.
e.l.f. Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzer Powder in St. Lucia $3.00- The blush from this duo was applied to the apples of the cheeks lightly with a fluffy duo fiber brush to give a bit of color to the cheeks
Milani XL Bronzer in Fake Tan $9.99- The darker cool toned brown color from this bronzer was lightly brushed under the cheekbones to slightly define them.
Milani Baked Bronzer in Glow $6.79- This was also lightly applied to the tops of the cheekbones with a fan brush to create a dewy glowing look
LIPS
Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Stellar $3.49- This was applied in one layer to the lips being careful to apply precisely to the lip line, then blotted with a tissue, applied again in one layer and blotted one last time for long lasting and full on lip color.

I hope you enjoyed this recreation of Kendall Jenner's look from Chanel's 2015 Spring Runway. I had a really great time creating it and I think it turned out super similar. I think fresh dewy skin and bright lip are the way to go for spring so don't be afraid to experiment with some different lip colors to find the shade that works best for you!
