Breaking The Rules With Black and Navy

I hope you all didn't think I forgot about the gentleman here on Bad B on a Budget! Tailoring is a bit of a soft spot for me when it comes to my own wardrobe. I have a wide array of blazers in my closet and I always find an excuse to buy a new. Whether its a different lapel, material, print, or cut,  I love blazers and I always find a need for one. I find them so versatile, its easy to dress them up for a night out, but just as easy to throw them on over a v-neck and a pair of slim fit jeans and look put together. I know the latter of the two has saved me many a times when I'm running short on time, or hiding the fact that my life is in shambles for a hungover Sunday brunch. I ran across these two blazers and instantly fell in love. Seriously, I don't need NO man! Just let one of these blazers put a ring on it.

Burberry Tuxedo Jacket-$1,595
Maison Margiela Navy Blazer-$2,245

I love the classic shape of the blazer together with the black and navy, two colors that most people would consider to not be a tradition pairing. I however think of both black and navy as neutral colors and all neutrals should be able to be paired together. Heartbreak shortly ensued after I saw the price tag on both of these beautiful jackets. I mean I work hard for the money but not that hard girl! I'm still in college, and unless I plan on not spending money on groceries for the whole year and not paying my rent (which I wont lie, I briefly considered) I wont be able to get either one of these. Lucky for me and for you guys I found these!

Topman Navy Blazer with Faux Leather Lapel-$160
Asos Navy Tuxedo Jacket w Satin Lapel-$116

They are pretty close to the original and the price is MUCH friendlier for my wallet. I could totally see myself throwing both of these on with a white v-neck, some dark coated denim, and a black pair of leather boots for night out! The Topman blazer has a leather lapel instead of a satin one which I actually really like. It makes it look a bit more edgy and I love a good leather detail. Asos of course never fails to deliver something that looks high fashion at an affordable price. It really has become my go to for trendy clothing at a price I can afford. It is also important to note that both Topman and Asos offer a student discount making these even more affordable for students (or anyone who still keeps their student ID around!). For a more formal event though they could also easily be dressed up in a more traditional sense. So go out and buy these and break the old fashioned rule of not pairing black and navy with me, you will thank me when you look in the mirror!
